Default Confused

I have just intalled th Omega Catalyst 5.9 driver on my Radeon 9800 Pro.The card seems to run ok but in the Ati tool tray it shows the memory speed at 250 mhz instead of the advertised 340.
Any help would be welcome.

erm.. i believe the memory clocks in crease when games start

most cards these days have a 2d speed, a safe speed and a, 3d speed

the safe speed is for if it gets too hot, or loses power,

Welcome to ngohq, and we hope you enjoy your stay

(im aussie btw)

Radeon 9800pro does only have one speed, no thermal trottling
or 2D mode

Try to use RivaTuner to verify it.
Try to update the Radeon BIOS too but make sure you are downloading the right BIOS.

personally I would revert to a set of official Catalyst then check clock speeds with one of the ATI OC tools available like ATI Tool, Riva Tuner, ATT etc and see if you still have messed up speed readings.

Also a tool like Everst Home edition will show clock speeds and if they are at default speed or reduced or overclocked speeds
