Default Please help

I have just purchased a ATI 9800 pro but i can not get it to run on my system.Every time i install the drivers my computer crashes
CPU = AMD Athlon2400 XP
512 RAM
MOTHER BOARD= AK32 Shuttle

W XP Prof
Any help would be welcome.

I installed the Omega Catalyst 5.9 drivers and the card runs well. The only thing is the memory speed is set at 250 mhz instead of 340 mhz.

You have the latest chipset drivers installed? Another thing that could give problems is your power supply. What's the max power?

Tony.p, make sure that your Power supply is 400 watt, cause in my region all power supplies write 400 watt, the ones which come with the Case. Besides, they always write it part of the model number, so you can't sue them.

So make sure that "400" is not part of the model number sticker on the power supply. In Egypt all power supplies that come with the made in China cases, are efficiently 200 watt maximum. Survival for the smartest here.

Good Luck.

If nothing helps then I suggest you reinstall Windows, that maybe helps.

Radeon 9800pro cant be startet without the molex cabel connected, the only
thing that happens if you do try, is that you get a red box on the screen that says
you have to connect the power cabel, and the machine of course does not boot.
Your problem is the Mainboard/Motherboard its too old to support a gfx card
like the 9800pro, the VIA KT266 chipset is a AGP2.0 compatible the 9800pro
is AGP3.0 compatible, in theory it stil should work, but that depends on an bios
update that fixes this problem.
