Default Radeon 9600 and DXT

Hi everybody,

I have a big problem with my Radeon 9600. Every game, after a few seconds or minutes, makes my computer reboot, or just a black screen. Even with games like gunbound (2D/3D)

Some problems with Directx, maybe, but what is sure, is that when I put DXT support OFF, there is no more reboot.

But the problem is that on games like HLČ, DXT OFF= performance issues, like big loadings etc...

Dont know what to do

Thanks !

First of all disable "Automatic restart" in "Startup and Recovery" settings under System Properties.
now instead of restarts you will see blue screen of death, Post here what it says.

Automatic restart is already disabled, so the problem seems to come from the Mainboard, and not from XP.

I think i have found the problem, it seems to come from the 8X mode. I put it on 4X, and I think that its a lot more stable (have to play more to confirm)

One question : Is there a lot of difference between 4x and 8X agp ? or should i take the 4x mode as the solution ?

Thanks

Have you tried to disable/enable fast writes or update the motherboard GART driver?

What are agp write and agp read ?

when i put agp 4X, agp write if off, and on 8x its on. Maybe its the problem ?

Also, it seems that games are in 16 bit, even if i set them in 32bit mode.

GART Driver is the AGP Driver.
