#1 | | Newbie | | GPU: 2xATI Radeon HD 5870 | | Hi!
I'm new to the whole Hybrid Physx thing, so please forgive my ignorance. I currently have 2xATI Radeon HD 5870s, and also a 9800GT.
I can't seem to get the Hybrid Physx drivers working in the Windows 8 Release Preview, has anyone managed to do so?
I've tested with fluidmark and a few others, but no luck I'm afraid. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it just not possible at the moment?
Thanks for your time, everyone! |

#2 | | Newbie | It worked for me on Windows 8 Release Preview. I have HD6950 running the basic driver that comes with Windows8, and GT240 running latest nVidia driver (30x.xx) with an older PhysX 9.11.0621
Here are the steps I followed
1) Installed nVidia 285.79 (which comes with PhysX 9.11.0621)
2) Installed nVidia 30x.xx, basically the latest driver that their website recommend for Windows 8 x64. I did custom installation, and didn't update the PhysX part
3) Ran Hybrid PhysX tool 1.05ff.
4) Reboot the system
I tried FluidMark 1.3.1 and moved all four physx_*.dll files. I think moving physx_device.dll is most important. GPU physx worked.
I'll try Batman AA and Mirror's Edge next.
FluidMark 1.4.0 didn't work in GPU PhysX though. I tried removing the local physx files, but nothing helped. Hopefully that's an isolated case. I think I never got it working in Windows 7 either.
Anyway, hybrid PhysX works fine in Windows8. |

#4 | | Newbie | I upgraded to Win8 pro and found that Hybrid PhysX worked just fine with GenL mod even for FluidMark 1.4.0.
Here are the steps
1) After Win8 install, the "Windows Update" process upgrades to 306.97 driver which is the current non-beta driver offered by nVidia. PhysX is automatically installed as part of the driver set with version 9.12.0604.
2) During or after install of Windows8, you must have added ATI drivers. I used the current 12.11beta4.
3) Uninstall physX 9.12.0604. You can do it from control-panel -> programs and features. Leave the rest of nVidia graphic driver as is.
4) Download and install PhysX 9.11.0621
5) Download and run GenL 1.05ff hybrid physx mod. Click the apply button in that tool.
That's it, you have Hybrid PhysX enabled now.
I tested with Fluidmark 1.4.0. It required deleting physx_device.dll file, in the folder where Fluidmark 1.4.0 was installed. Batman Arkham Asylum required no tweaks. PhysX worked just fine.
I understand that there may be some issues with Borderlands2, and Batman Arkham City, and that there is another mod here which basically moves these same files around and add a few registry settings. I'd like to stick with GenL's 1.05ff mod until it stops working. I'll keep the thread updated. |

#6 | | Newbie | I do mean Fluidmark 1.4.0. It worked perfectly fine with hybrid Physx - GT240 stepping to higher clock and with rising temperature to handle PhysX load.
I did nothing other than the steps mentioned in my earlier post. It's repeatable, and not a one-off occurrence. |

Either fluidmark 1.5.0 or dvdfab runs without problem |

#9 | | Dedicated Member | Now I see why FluidMark1.4 works without Hybridiz, because you are using an ancient 2011 PhysX version, in order to use the latest so you can play new games, check the thread I posted earlier. |
