Hi paulpsomiadis, Is this fix help hybrid physx as well? Will this use the CPU as Physx or the GPU? Thanks.

Hmm, well it WAS working fine for me till the latest nVidia BETA drivers...

(285.79 beta as of writing this)

I'll see if I can get it going again and report back to you guys...

BTW - when it DOES work (verified on my hybrid system and my mates nVidia only PC) it REALLY speeds up framerates!

I can also confirm physx working on the new drivers (285.79 with physx 9.11.1107 and hybrid patch of 1.05f). The game was unbelievably beautiful with physx set to high in the game, but i got a lot of slowdown while fighting sludge monsters in the forest (with boltflies in the mix) to such an extent my pc crashed.

I have since set the game to medium physx and it's still very pretty but there's no longer any phsyx slowdown.. less foliage than i remember though ;_;

of note, i was playing this in 720p -stereoscopically on my 3dmonitor using a 5850, so the slowdown i experienced was probably exasperated by double rendering for the 3dmonitor, so physx on high would prob work normally :O

==edit==

Okay I take it all back with the latest physx 9.11.1107 drivers!

DO NOT USE THESE!

nVidia have patched the PhysX hack

DO NOT upgrade until there's a new patch!

==edit 2==

For those who did upgrade, you'll have to clean install your nVidia stuff...

1) Remove nVidia card from PC
2) Uninstall ALL nVidia drivers
3) Download Driver Sweeper and select all the nVidia options and click CLEAN
4) Swich off the PC and re-insert nVidia card
5) Re install Nvidia 285.79 Physx 9.11.0621 drivers
6) Run GenL's 1.05f patch
7) Reboot and enjoy hardware PhysX again!

Reverted and everything is now fine!

TESTED SETUP
==========

5970 + GTX570 Cata 12.1, Nvidia 285.79 Physx 9.11.0621

I was initially getting a NV4_DISP.dll bluescreen, then I found THIS!!!

NV4_DISP.dll LOOP FIXER!!!

@Tsukikochan - check your physx rendering method...

To do this go and download "FluidMark" HERE:

http://physxinfo.com/news/6660/physx...4-0-available/

Be sure to read the instructions about hybrid physx at the bottom of the page.

Once it's installed and you have removed the files you don't need in hybrid mode - run the stability test and see if the following is in the top left corner of the rendering window:

PHYSX GPU

If it is then your nVidia card is rendering...but...if you see this...

PHYSX CPU

Then you need to clean install the older nVidia jumpers

If you've already tested all this...then that's quite baffling!!!

gonna try that out since the new fluidmark does use that.

my guess is that fluidmark uses the latest physx on the system, which it then thinks has no gpu. alice uses an older version of physx, so the gpu worked. to be honest, i havent got fluidmark showing physx gpu since 1.05ff, but since alice ran with physx without slowdown (in 3d as well), i thought it was ok.

downgrading to older physx now. hope its fixed, i wanna play batman soon ^^

EDIT:
got it working again, check my post in the hybrid thread :3 seems it was working fine in 1107 with Alice for me as I had thought as fluidmark is giving the wrong results without renaming the physdevice.dll (like the first post in this thread for alice tehehe), this should help people with testing their setup in the new fluidmark accurately :O

Well, it seems the instructions for Batman AC are nearly identical!

PART 1
=====

Go into this folder:

[X]:\Batman_AC\Binaries\Win32

Make a BACKUP folder and move the following files into it:

PhysxDevice.dll
PhysxLoader.dll

Part 2
=====
On your Windows partition go to the folder:
[X]:\Program Files (x86)\Nvidia Corporation\PhysX\Engine
...and create the folder
v2.8.4
MOVE the following files from your [X]:\Batman_AC\Binaries\Win32 folder into the new v2.8.4 folder:
PhysxCooking.dll
PhysXcore.dll

You can now have HIGH PhysX ingame without a HUGE performance hit!

Note #1 - if you're running a 32-bit O.S., then it's just "Program Files".
Note #2 - If you already did the Alice Madness returns fix, just overwrite the files in the "v2.8.4" folder with the ones from Batman AC. Alice still works fine!

Just a quick addendum...

If you're using the v1.1 update for Batman: AC (which fixes that annoying camera pan slowdown in DX11) then you'll need to move the "PhysXcore.dll" file again as the update re-inserts it back into the game folder.

Take care out there folks!
