CPU: Intel Q9550 @ 3.4 GHz

RAM: 8 GB Dual Channel DDR2
PSU: 1000W Ultra X3
Default Just Asking....

Someone over on another forum [which will remain anonymous] asked for some help reducing the available display resolutions in the video card drivers. This person wants to eliminate all but TWO resolutions from within the drivers.

I can't think of any obvious logical reason for doing so.

Can anyone here come up with some reasonable explanation for even considering this?

Maybe they are tired of someone always changing the resolution on them? Who knows.

The numbskull finally answered the question I asked as to 'why' he/she wanted to limit the number of available resolutions. First, this person said that my inquiry was not relevant to his/her problem and desire to limit said resolutions.

Well, what they were attempting to do was limit what the drivers "thought" the TV could do. I replied that, if he/she had simply answered my inquiry about why and what they were trying to accomplish, the answer could have been given a whole lot faster.

Sheesh....some people!

Anyway, problem solved ... for now.

Maybe the screen of the dude is not corectly dectected and by default winblows put the resolution too much high. So he can't see a damn thing...

That wasn't the issue at all.

Possible on Windows XP, but I'm not sure about Vista or 7.

To remove them from the drivers, here was the answer given to the interested party:

"Get rid of the DALNonStandardModesBCD entries for your card from the inf file and reinstall the drivers."
