#171 | | Advanced Newbie | Wow, thats really dumb of EA/DICE then, I remember all the hype of the game being able to use Nvidia PhysX. |

#172 | | Golden Member | Finally i'm ready to release a public final versions of the project (x86 and x64) with a couple of fixes to make it simplier to install - thanks to all testers.
However, i think users should decide if i'll do it asap, or will wait for the next WHQL driver release from nvidia. Although they should be busy enough with GT300 release and its driver support, they might find time to add another checks and blocking mechanisms for PhysX, which will require more time to fix. That way 191.03 might remain the only "last working" driver for our mod.
What's your opinion? |

1) We can still use 181.71//185.62 driver with the latest PhysX 9.x software so there is not a single game that cannot be played with PhysX-on-GPU for now. 190.xx drivers have improved CUDA performance but it's not a huge increase.
2) Nvidia could introduce a new PhysX software package that could require DX11 drivers so if you release it now, we could not be able to install any newer PhysX software package.
My performace tests showed 29fps (185.62) vs 30,5fps (190.xx) in the Darkest of Days PhysX benchmark (highest settings, 1680x1050) so I think you should wait. |

#174 | | Advanced Newbie | I don't think it will be long until the next WHQL release. I mean we've had the beta for three or four days now, doesn't WHQL usually release within a week or two of the beta?
Maybe we should wait. |

#177 | | Advanced Newbie | | M/B: Gigabyte EX-58 Extreme | | | PSU: Gigabyte Odin GT 800W | | Hi guys, I have been following this thread with great interest, I will borrow a 1Gb GTS 250 card from a friend (afaik it's a rebranded 9800GTX+) in a couple of days, I will test it using 185.68 drivers in my Windows 7 RC partition (64bit).
If PhysX performance is good for games (Mirror's Edge, Batman, Cryostasis...) with those old drivers, I would say to hold on releasing those "special" drivers, because nVidia could use them to put stronger anti-ATI measures in future drivers.
Any tester of those GenL's special drivers, have you done any game bench with PhysX games (Batman includes a benchmark) to see if there is any important performance gain comparing to 185.68?
GenL, thank you very much for your work, and congratulations

I'm just finished reading the whole 18 pages of this thread. The discussion was really interesting, i'm even quote a couple of answers on a forum in my country where the debate continued, offcourse it became a campaign between NV vs ATi fanboys for time to time.
The reason why i'm posting here is because i own a 4850 and a 9500GT with an Asus P5KC. I was using both of them in XP, couldn't do it in Vista cause of the WDDM 1.0 and in my recently intalled Win7 64-bit i found this obstruction from NV when i tried to run PhysX on Batman (it runs on software mode).
In the last couple of pages i been reading about a patch. I wondering if is possible for me to test it?
Thanks you all for the incredible good work, specially the drivers modders.
PS: Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native lenguage.
