But, you can still get them at TechPowerUP. http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=F...&dwn_cat_id=18

The main reason they pulled the plug is that they don't like posting new drivers on Friday...and then the lack of support [cough, cough] that would ensue over the weekend.
So far, I've had no problem with them.

#4 | | cel rau | this is fucking stupid
AMD should shot themselves in the head over this, they did release drivers over the weekend in the past, so ... what's different

This is with Vista 32 bit of course. So the system seems to recover and I'm not having BSODs. But still I can hardly get into the CCC without this error. =(
I contacted ATI's tech support and they suggested I uninstall the drivers, then run Driver Sweeper, and resinstall. I did this and nothing has changed. Between this and another issue with getting Dual Displays to work, I've decided to ditch my XFX 4870 XXX.
I'm building a Core i7 system. So I'll have my Core 2 system revert to a 780i chipset board and 2 8800GTs in SLI. I am getting my EVGA 8800GTS/640 repaired, or replaced, so it will go into what is now my secondary system. I guess the Foxconn ELA and XFX 4870 will go up on Graigslist... It's kinda sad! |

See I'm building another Ci7 system. So I needed to use the HD4870 - thought I might as well try it. And it does indeed work like I want.
I used Driver Sweeper to clean out the Nvidia drivers. Shut down the system and swapped cards. Had to let Win7 detect the new card and restart. Then installed the 9.6 Cats. Then I just right clicked on the tray icon and told it to Extend to the second display. Now It restarts and both displays come right up.
And since the price of these XFX HD4870 1GB XXX is now about $170... I might get a second one!
Now to move it all to the new case... I feel an all nighter coming on |
