Default I'm a lost cause!

Hey guys! Thanks for the responses on my questions on an AGP upgrade. Here now is my problem. I want to install Windows 7 but a response from AMD says there are no drivers for my X850 card. I thought I read somewhere that support for W7 was already in the 9.3 drivers. I can't use 9.4 as they don't support my card. Here is the response I received from AMD: Dear Customer,

Your service request : SR #{ticketno:[8200196973]} has been reviewed and updated.

Response and Service Request History:

There are currently no announced plans for a driver release for Windows 7 for your X8XX series card. Only Direct X 10 and higher cards will have drivers for Windows 7.

In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact.

Best regards,

AMD Global Customer Care

Anyone have take on this? Sure would like to test drive W7. Thanks for any input again.

Greg

W7 and Vista have the same drivers sheme... so if your x850 is supported on vista then it supposed to be supported on W7

Catalyst 9.3 for Vista and 7 supports X850.

It is my understanding that AMD/ATI WILL add updated drivers for Legacy video cards [anything below the HD2xxx series and any DX9 card] on a quarterly basis. So, if you can use 9.3 now, the next upgrade for you should come in the 9.6 drivers.

Update: Just installed W7 but the drivers (9.3) will not load. I use the 9.3 with CP from NGOHQ. Wondering if I should use the CCC ones from ATI. Other than that all is working just fine and looks nice. Thanks again.
