Even crysis would not take advantage of an nvidia video card with 2 gb of memory....

It might. GTA IV uses 1.5 GB of memory.

Video memory and memory usage (RAM) in total are two things that are different.
A game can be memory heavy (e.g. bad coding, not optimised engine, console clone etc.) but use only a few low res-textures thus resulting in a large system-memory footprint but small video-memory usage and vice-versa.

Well with a 512MB card, I can easily use the commandline script to allow GTA to use 700-1GB of video memory, yet in terms of FPS it doesnt take a hit. So either GTA exagerates its average usage, or the PCI-E bus is sufficient for the texture swapping required etc. So I am still dubious if a new card "needs" over 1GB of framebuffer.

I know, a guy who has it said it uses 1.5GB of video memory, and for the record, GTA IV does not have low res textures.

Sorry if I'm sounding like an A-Hole arguing with you guys, but I'm just telling you what he said about GTA IV.
