Then how does CrossFire help if it does not use the video memory of the 2nd graphics card? I've also been wondering, if I get CrossFire, will I need to connect two DVI cables to my monitor?

Actual crossfire configurations are like an normal videocard... the master card is used for display and calculations and the second only for calculations...

I was reading some old posts on CrossFire, and is there still that "master card" and "slave card" stuff? Because in those old posts it said you couldn't just buy two of the same graphics cards, that you had to make sure that one was a "master card" and the other was a "slave card".

No... now you dont have the master card at 900$ ... you can buy 2 simple 4850 and it will work ... with the inside dongle... the external cable plugged to the 2 1st dvi plugs dont exist anymore...

Oh, DVI-D, right. So will I need 2 of those hooked up to my monitor for CrossFire, or only 1 hooked up to the master card.

i dont think you'll need any cords except 1 and thats the one that hooks up to the video card port to the monitor. the crossfire bridges take care of hooking up the to cards, or three together and then u can use either card as the master...

2GB 4890's are out now. I intend on getting two of Saphire's Vapor-X tech versions.

for those speaking of gta4, with cmd line restrictions remover u get weird stuff like textures not apearing on time, and so on, game becomes full of bugs, and thats what lacking of vram is, theres a way to make it use high quality textures and everything else on high without bugs, but then it takes a HUGE performance hit, for my system it was like 50fps to 20.
