Not high enough resolution to care about going 3 way, or barely 2 way.

1 x 4890 or Nvidia equiv would be my recommendation.

2x if you really must have the "boast" factor. i.e. to look a nob amongst people you know by continually mentioning you have something excessive.

1920*1080 is just not enough resolution to push these cards, 2560 is where a 2x will really shine vs a 1x. But 1920 and below the difference isnt always big and expect to find more compatibility issues or micro stuttering etc. Plus double the power consumption/heat etc. with not a huge benefit.

Remember you can get a second one in 6-18 months if you find a game or something that starts to tax the graphics end of your system.

However, if you really want great performance, then 2x will offer a benefit while 3x will offer next to nothing at 1920

Well, I wanted to be able to max out Age of Conan and Mortal Online with 24x CFAA at 1920x1080 so I thought I should get 2 4890's in CrossFire.

Ok, if you want I'll post some benchmarks against my 8600 GTS, but two OC'd 4890's in CrossFire should kick its a**. I probably won't be getting a my computer upgrade until maybe May or June though, cause I'm replacing everything except for the case, fans, and harddrive, so I'm going to have to wait to get my Confirmation money and then get my new monitor and 2nd 4890 in November or December.
