Question Updating laptop graphic card and chipset

Hi there...
While trying to find any solution for my problem, met with this community.
hope i will get some answers and advices...

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 notebook
- Windows XP Home SP2
- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz (2 CPUs)
- 1 GB RAM
- Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (256 mb)
- Chipset: Mobile Intel Calistoga i945PM

here is my problem:
I have installed the game, Empire Total War. It can run well but has some annoying problems about viewing texts in game.
Anyway, I searched and found the reason: gpu driver should be updated.

But you know, we can't get the latest drivers from our manufacturer dell's website.
when i try to install an update that i downloaded it from intel's website, it doesn't let me install.

so how can i update my mobility radeon x1400 and chipset drivers?

I have no more place to ask and solve this problem, so help me please...

1. Grab ATI Catalyst 9.3.
2. Grab this Mobility Modder tool.
3. Extract ATI Catalyst.
4. Run Mobility Modder and patch the INF files with it.
5. Install the ATI Catalyst driver.

firstly thanks for your reply...

-I have downloaded Ati Catalyst 9.3 and modify modder.
-Then extracted Ati catalyst to "C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9_3_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu" and I cancelled the installation.
-Run the mobility modder, browse catalyst extracted folder and modified.
-After that go to "C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9_3_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver \" and run "setup.exe".
-Catalyst installation has started but after a while an error occured:
"Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or os"

did I do wrong stg?
