#1 | | Member | Triple CrossFireX Hello my friends. I just want to ask if Triple CF is possible with HD 4870X2 + HD 4870 or not. I looked up for it but didn't find anything. Does anyone know?
Thanks... |

You can mix an 4850 and an 4870 as i know... but you can give it an try... |

So if you have 2 dual-chip cards, you cannot add a single-chip card to the system.

#4 | | Member | I'm asking for Triple CF. I mean a HD 4870X2 and a HD 4870 (singlu GPU) can be CF mode like HD 4870X2 + HD 4870? HD 4870 will have equal memory and speeds. (Totally 3 GPUs). I'm planning to buy so before buying I need to know. |

I actually had a triple setup here on my DX48BT2 intel board for some time until I got another 3870X2. If you are using an intel chipset, as long as you have an X2 card mixed with a single you are okay. The trouble people get into with a board like mine is the third pci-e slot is only 4x so if you use 3 single cards the third slot will actually bring down performance. You can only use more than 2 single physical cards on an AMD 790 chipset. |
