First let me apologize to all, as I refuse to upgrade from W2K to XP, just for gaming sake. For years now, I have never had any problems running games in W2K (FEAR primarily) using nVidia hardware. Thanks to dedicated 3rd party driver mods, nVidia+W2K has been a winning combination.
Now, I have upgraded to perhaps the last AGP powerhouse card, the HIS HD3850. And I have had to jump through hoops to even install Cat 8.4 agp hotfix driver, with the old control panel (thanx NGOHQ!).

I can play FEAR now without significant problems, however, I no longer have opengl 2.0 support. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this loss or perhaps can offer any advise.
BTW...the latest NGOHQ Cat drivers will not install for my agp card and windows 2000.
I understand that ATI no longer supports W2K, but there is a work around. Here it is.
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=262943 1) execute official Cat.exe to unpack it. Once unpacked, abort installer immediately.
2) dig into "driver" folder of the unpacked Cat.
3) Look for large *.inf and delete ", NTx86" & ".NTx86". Once per each. Don't forget to remove leading ", " and "."
4) Look for all *.ini and *.inf, and swap all "WIN2K" and "WINXP". (this is not optimal but easier to explain
5) Run setup. After that is as usual.
At least up to 8.4-agpfix should run fine in this way, though I'm having trouble with 8.5 for unknown reason.
Here you can download a nice Perl application to do this automatically, just extract these files into the \driver directory.

I have used the above, and can install the Cat 8.4 hotfix successfully. Any newer version I try will install OK, but I cannot change screen resolutions away from 640x480x16 colors - (driver does not load).
The machine I am using has W2K installed on drive D: - rather than C: - I wonder if ATI may have hardcoded drive C: in its opengl drivers?
Any ideas on what I should do?
Many thanks,
