CPU: E8400@3.6GHz (400x9)
GPU: GF8800GT SLI 512MB OC!

RAM: 2x2GB 800Mhz Geil Cl4
PSU: Chieftech 750W
Default HD 4870

PEOPLE!! I've tested this baby for a 3 hours now and i have to say IT IS SWEET!!

1st of all a little issues, It gets hot on default cooling and it "eats" almost as much as HD2900XT (power).

Now to the performance...Well it is almost as quick as GTX280!! I mean in lower resolutions it is equal (sometimes minimal better) and in higher theres about 5-10% slower but also a lot cheaper!! Sure as always with ATI I could see some strange FPS drops in places that shouldnt be a problem for GPU but as always new drivers should fix the problem. In almost every game( not in Crysis ) card performed so good that my jaw droped under my desk In Crysis it was not much faster than 4850 but maybe some new drivers will deliver some extra power!!

Image quality is great as on 4850 which is even little pritier than with GTX280(but someone else may like GF IQ better...)

As for earlier post I was right about 1 thing, It is slower thant 9800GX2 BUT IT IS EVEN MORE THAN 15% faster than 9800GTX!!! SWEET

Heck yeah. Now all that remains is for the R700 (4870x2?) to deal the last blow. This is going to trigger another price war!

4870 wont be faster than 2x3870 in CF Still 1 GPU cards are little slower than SLI/CF 4870x2 should blow GF out I sure hope so then Nvidia will drop prices to some normal numbers...

Correct me if I'm wrong but as I recall it only uses 20ish more watts under load compared to the 3870 (single gpu). As for the cooler well anyone doing multi gpu configurations either has: 1)Aftermarket HSF on the gpus or 2)Watercooling or 3)a really good case with lots of airflow directed at the expansion cards.
