Default Event Viewer & ati2mtag

When playing some video files I some times constantly get this message spammed in event viwer:

source: ati2mtag
category: DVD_OV
type: information
eventid: 62486

Can any body tell me what it is and what is the cause? I have ati 9600 and use drivers 6.7.

What video player are you using? This error is AGES old and appears to be mostly associated with xVID and DivX players. (At least back a couple of years ago they did.)

Do those errors continue logging to Event Viewer if you Pause/Start the video again without exiting the Player you're using?

Also, try running the video in Windowed mode rather than in Overlay mode. (That's what the DVD_OV is referring to: The video is attempting to play in Overlay and something else is using the Overlay already...which prompts the error.)

Good luck!

I use media player classic from K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. Is it a serious error? Can it be fixed? Should I disable overlay all together?

This is the problem: you're using an outdated driver from 06/2007. If you don't want to update, try to disable "Overlay mode" in Media Player Classic.

Actually, isn't 6.7 from July, 2006? We're now up to using 8.5 as the latest. Those drivers he's using are two years old. Right?
