I think Youll have to wait untill some more manufacturers releases for the wallpapers... Anyway it is slower than my 8800GT OC SLI but still it is fast(maybe in Crysis I expected a little more I saw there 36 FPS / 28 FPS) It has some chances to blow down 9800GTX and that would be great( maybe 4870 will do even that 15% ) AnywayI have now confirmed that tommorow ill have that 4850 in my hands so ill give It a try in UT3, COD4 and feew other games...

Ok as I write this text my m8 is starting to test brand new 4850 which shiped about 40 minutes ago. I got 1 bad message about It , we got a refference card with stock cooling which Youll see in lot of cards on the market, my advice is wait before You BUY them, find some with manufacturers cooling!! Our test card after boot up had ~68C and with full load ~85C...

We had some issue because memory temps went high in just a minute and that isnt normal.
We had to change thermal paste!!
After providing some AC silver 5 temps went down but this isnt good for the start on the market...or maybe its just our card... So unless You want to change the paste after buying just skip refference cooled cards...

I know these temps may not see that high but I dont know what are safe temps for 4000 series!!

Anyway Ill provide some results later Im waitng to get my hand on this baby

How is the noise level? Did you try adjusting the fanspeed via software? I can't wait to see your results.

Noice level is acceptable but adjusting fan speed to 100% dropped 1-2C and noice becomed a little anoying... I think that Ati provided very poor or to little thermal paste because with AC Silver 5(~8$) the card temps dropped by ~10C

Some will be suprised and some will be dissapointed but new HD4850 is almost equal to GF8800GT!! In almost every(9 of 10) test we made FPS difference was below 2 for one or other side!! I guess it would also deppend on manufacturer, model and clocks but new Ati card is best opponent to 8800GT(which means it is faster than 3870) but also able to compete with 9800GTX in some games...

So it's really an ATI version of the 8800GT's winning formula. Both cards gain a lot from aftermarket cooling.

Yeah quite same performance, same problems with stock cooling and common power con...
Whats the funniest when FPS drop on some resolution with 8800GT the same thing happens with 4850 ;-) Anyway nice card from ATI. Waiting for 4870
