When I buy a card, my objective is not to get the FASTEST performance. I just want any game to run with beautiful IQ and the settings that i consider beautiful. If it's over 30FPS then im happy. I had to change my HD2600 because it just couldn't keep up. But my HD3850 does the job really well for 150$ card so I really don't need anything more.

The announcement of video card series radeon HD 48xx is now assigned to 25 June, but not 23 June, as it was communicated two days earlier. Thus, these video cards will be released one week later (after the official announcement of geForce GTX 280 and GeForce GTX 260 video cards ) .
Associate also notes that the core frequencies for Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon HD 4870: in the first case will be equal to 625 MHz, in the second - 750 MHz. According to the preliminary evaluations, the radeon HD 4870 with 512 Mb GDDR-5 memory will be up to 30 faster than Radeon HD 4850 with 512 Mb GDDR- 3 memory . In 3DMark vantage test the radeon HD 4850 was faster than the GeForce 9800 GTX.

Thumbs up

Thats right......... GTX280 can score 4800+ but 4870X2 dose 5500+ in Vantage Extreme... that too the 280 dose it with a Intel qx9650 3Ghz and 4870x2 dose it with a phenom 9850 running @ 2.5ghz......

Anyway... i want to buy atleast 4850... pls release it... i bought Race driver GRID and i am playing it on my IGP 3200 on my 780G... hmm cant wait...

The R700 card apparently doing pretty well at this stage scoring about X5500 in 3DMark Vantage Extreme preset while the GeForce GTX 280 card is scoring X4800. Both sides are still working hard on optimizing their drivers for the new architecture so probably we will see the performance to improve over time.

Well on the first screen I dont know what these numbers mean... 100, 120... in 3Dmark06?? this is strange anyway I cant wait to test it in games because synthetic benchmarks arent any important... Hope 48** will rock because Ati lost some part of market lately again and that would surely help a lot... Im impressed with 780 chipset now time for some good GPU's :-) hope ATI wont dissapoint me...

Atleast it (48xx) does proper antialiasing instead of cheating. That one issue really held the 38xx series down.
