Market value.... of company's..........

AMD is currently valued at $3.88B, and Nvidia goes for $13.44B, while IBM is worth just shy of the $150B mark ($148.88B)

If AMD runs out of GASS... IBM is going to buy AMD and Intel is scared about that... =lol...

AMD is developing a lot of things in cooperration with IBM. Like their next 45nm manufacturing process i think IBM helped them in it or something like that. The fact remains that the best brains in the industry, as far as I'm concerned, are (most of them) working for Intel. But who cares of all this s**t, the thread is about 8800gt vs. 3870

AMD's license for X86 architecture... is from IBM...

The reason we see big improvement from AMD is bcoz of they havin a 75M deal with Rambus... the XDR guys... who is helping develop better.. technology with bandwidth...
And they are also going to use this technology in their processors shortly...... the Next AMD processor is running at 3.3Ghz with 4 cores... any idea how... this is how... XDR technology ....

And the AMD's new DDR2 processor(deneb) is faster than Intel's DDR3.........

Its 4 times powerful than DDR3

CPU: E8400@3.6GHz (400x9)
GPU: GF8800GT SLI 512MB OC!

bla bla bla as always just marketing bulls*** I was always buing AMD processors and I had 6000+ which was suppose to be a beast but somehow when i bought E8400 also with 3GHz I believed in Intel CPU's!! Is hell faster, cooler, 3x less power consuming and OC ready :-D. As we talk about Ati vs Nvidia ok theres some choice but AMD vs Intel is a massacre! And rambus helped once Intel when they made a very expensive mem's which dissapeared after 1,5 year!! I really would like to see good AMD CPU's but somehow I dont believe it will happen. Just compare performance 6000+ ~ E6600(2,4GHz!!!!) And I remember times when Athlon XP 3000+(2,2GHz) beated P4 3,4 !!!!!!! What happened???!!! So if we think of it logicaly AMD 3,3GHz would be comparable to Intel's...ahm 2,7 ??!! Oh nice Q9450!!(mid range CPU!!!) BULL**** Ask anyone who is in the bussiness - for last 2 years AMD is "spoiling us" with prehistorogical CPU's screaming " BOY THEY ARE FAST" I spent lot of money on My AMD 6000+ and somehow I dont like this kind of jokes anymore... So until we see some real results just please stop writing AMD's nasa-talk crap... And saddest thing is ATI always was honest and when they made some GPU which was suppose to be fast - hell it was (R8500, R9700PRO, R9800PRO, X850XT ,X1900XTX) but since AMD took over theres again a lot of theory power and even more of dissapointment.

Never take Speeds in considerations Only architectures and Caches can do an big difference

I disagree, as we all know You can OC only MHz and that gives more performance. We cant change Cache size which is crucial too but AMD dont give us any extra MHz which is another con! How much can You OC AMD 6000+? 150MHz? 190MHz? Well I OC'ed my E8400 by 600MHz without any voltages changing!! Temps went +1C!! SO AMD 6000+(3GHZ) isnt any competition to Intels E6800 or E8400!! And as You said architecture? Thats the worst thing that X2 series are technologicaly 2-3 years behind... I used to LOVE AMD had about 5-6 of them but now theres nothing to compete with Intel.

sports car is better than muscle car..................

Don't compare a DDR3 Intel with a DDR2 AMD... compare DDR2 INTEL with a AMD DDR2.........

When AMD comes with their XDDR Processor..... lets talk about it... till then... No more AMD VS INTEL... k

AMD rocks...........
The reason why AMD beats Intel at games

Quad core fight..........

Intel QX9770 cost $1,678 http://www.sltech.com.au/shop/produc...ducts_id=30553

Phenom 9600 Black edition $218.00

Gaming Benchmark =

http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==

Better deal

Intel 10% faster than AMD

2 AMD = 80% faster than intel.......

218$ x 2 = bello 450$

And it will beat any intel Processor.......... so compare price... always... ok............

Havent You noticed that Q6600 beats thats puny phenom every time???? the are with comparable prices. I dont give a **** what DDR are they theories are good for profesors . People wat performance and lately AMD cant give it too much...You can paste here whole wikipedia or other pro-source but normal customers just simply dont CARE!! So just forget it until You have some FACTS!

This thread has gone WAY off topic! It's supposed to be about the comparison of HD3870 vs. XFX8800gt.

Just for my own personal preference, I picked up a HD3870 512 MB DDR4 card on Tuesday for $214.98 plus tax USA. I couldn't be happier because I'm really very pleased with ATi cards and the support I've gotten from them over the years.

What I DON'T care for is that AMD has bought ATI which, I'm afraid, has diminished ATI's reputation in the graphics card department.

However, over the long range, I do believe that the processor manufacturers are looking to put a 'all in one' CPU/GPU processor together and that 'might' be something that makes sense for AMD to have bought ATI.

BUT, if nVidia is a better graphics card maker, why didn't AMD go for it instead of ATI?

Anyway, I'm quite pleased with the performance of my HD3870 so far.
