Default what do you consider a new game

Well, considering my laptop is 2 years old and it play "old" games just fine (some of those are less than 1 years old), a newer laptop should be able to play "newer" games just fine. What do you consider a new game? The op already stated he can play Crysis on his. I have Crysis and can give it a try, I also have Gears of War, Unreal III, Bioshock and lots others that I can try. I think you are confusing "new" games with "the most graphically intesive game" money can buy. There are very few games that most modern laptops cannot play (at least the ones with descrete video cards). I am not trying to start a flame war, just stating what most decent laptops can do (And mine only cost about $1200 Canadian dollars so it was not highend).

Well in regards to the games you mentioned:
Hellgate London is absolutely boring. I hope you didn't actually buy it.
The old game (FEAR) has better AI than crysis and it's more fun (I'm saying this as someone who has played and finished both games).
Portal is a gem. It's short but sweet.

I stand by my point, laptops are not for gaming, they are disguised as being good for gaming sure, to lure unsuspecting people into wasting a rediculous sum of money

They can handle older games, or modern games a weak settings, but even if you do get it to play resonably, whats the point with the tiny screen and terrible controls (unless you plug in an external mouse) even then ive never cared for the feel of a laptop keyboard

anyways, everything is cramed into thoes things, the case itself serves to insulate it and with everything being in such close proximity it causes a huge heate build up that the tiny sad little fans with their smothered intake/exaust ports, cant hope to compete with

Even the most modern laptop is still just a cripled version of the pc equivalent, they gotta run low power which inevitably = low performence, and with the heat issues adherent with laptops you simply cannot oc them, and if you do manage to oc it your gonna murder your batterlife so your gonna have to have it plugged in all the time which pretty much negates the benefits of it being a laptop

sad to say but their weak, akward and unless you want something to type with at school or you need to take documents between wrok/home/clients, then they serve no practical use

@unix, i agree FEAR was much better, love the AI, great game
