X1600 Mobility Drivers to work on Windows x64 Got no Windoz XP x64 supported graphics drivers or failed to install drivers. Especially with mobility graphic cards. Well, theres another way to install them. Its pretty damn easy and effective. It will save people reverting to Vista x64 and stuff.
For example i got a ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 that has no support what so ever from NEC nor AMD/ATI. Note to Self- NEVER BUY NEC AGAIN!
First of all, get a driver that "supports" your graphics card and arch (32bit or x86_64).
Extract it, install Catalyst for later. (i think i grabbed the AMD/ATI driver from official site and Used Windows XP x64 --> Radeon X1600.
Open Display and goto the Settings tab.
Click Advanced and goto the Adapter tab and then properties.
Goto Driver tab and update driver.
Click "Advanced" Radio button.
"Dont Search" Radio Button.
Then click the "Have Disk" tab.
Browse the C:\ATI\"what driver package"\Driver\Driver\XP6A_INF and press ok.
*NOTE: Yours might be different just browse around*
Then you should get a list of different drivers. Now please keep in mind that Mobility Radeon == Radeon. So if you have a X1600 Mobility like i do, select "Radeon X1600 (series)" in my case. Same for X1x00 cards. All capabilities are there. Just cbfed getting a screeny cause im using my main computer (ubuntu dual booting with utterly destroy XP x64 XD).
Accept any incompatible driver thingy.
Press ok and restart.
You should have full working ATI drivers working in x64.
I thought i was gonna go insane and install Vista.
Should work with any card in theory. Nvidia, ATI, Intel, etc, etc. given theres a similar card. Im fairly sure it works with mobility geforce cards too given theres an equivalent desktop release. Just use common sense. |
