Default How to install&set 2600xt@ubuntu?

I just installed ati drivers for 2600xt at ubuntu but i can't set in there resolution 1024x768@85Hz, to select i have got only 800x600 & 640x480@60Hz...

The most annoyin thing is this 60Hz.... i need more, like 70 or 85...

My monitor is crt lg f700b.

First of all which version of fglrx did you install? If you installed it via the repositories you're dead certain to find a newer version if you install it yourself.

I'm no expert on ATI's Linux *cough* *splutter* drivers. If you need expert help on all aspects of ATI Linux driveroids (as in humanoid because they only resemble drivers ) you might want to have a look: here [phoronix.com]

Use the new ATi HD opensource drivers, you can add resolutions to your xorg conf file by: 1 - Using the automated xorg configuration tool - type xorgcfg in console logged as root with (k)(g)(x)dm killed. 2 - By editing the xorg.conf file at /etc/X11 using some kind of text editor (gksu gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf or sudo nano -w /etc/X11/xorg.conf). If you need more details post here what you dont understand.

You can use that driver but it won't have 3D acceleration for quite a while.
