texture deaail is either none or totally bland

I bought a new ATI card 2600 XT, installed the catalyst 8.41 drivers and played portals. everything was fine, although for a card with 512 MB of RAM and a 800mhz GPU I expected no choppyness or slowdown coming from a 7900 GS. Installed the Ryan Adams ATI optimizer, testures went to crap. Unistalled the both ATI control center and the optimizer and installed the new 7.10 drivers. Nothing worked. 7.10 drivers wouldnt even instal. After instal setup was complete it was as if they werent there. Reinstalled the old drivers and still textures along walls and Anistropic filtering testures and totally gone. Its as if the bump mapping isnt there only bump mapping is enabled.

you should uninstal all the ati drivers ( use guru3d removal tool) and instal again 7.10, i have been playing half-life 2 ep 2 and portal on 1440x900 multysample aa 4x af16 everything on high with no problems so i must be you software that's causing this. try to clean an and instal 7.10 and then tell us how it goes

Ok, Ive tried everything reinstalling old drivers, new ones, intalling old ones then "updating" which says all drivers are updated, installing new ones then updating, installing old ones then uninstalling old drivers leaving old Catalyst Manager and only installing new one drivers. Nothing seems to be working. All textures still have no detail whatsoever. As before the new 7.10 drivers dont even register. They instal through install manager and dont show up in any file in my C: drive, or anywhere.
