#1 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | What are the best drivers out right now? Well i scored 4100 in 3dmark 2006 with the 8.41 drivers suggested by chaos, my score with the 6600 was 1407, so this is definetly an improvement but not quite as much as i was expecting which only leads me to believe that there are still better drivers out there, anyone reccomend a driver? the NGO optimize? the Omega drivers?
Thanks for the help guys! |

I have the PCIe version of the X1950 Pro 256 MB and have scored into the 6000s with a newer system. It's your CPU and older RAM that's holding you back.

#4 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | PCI-E is no faster then agp, no card on the market can take full advantage of even what agp can do, my cpu score does put me back a little sure but games are mostly gpu anyways so it doesnt matter that much, im sure i can crank out some more performence out of this card, just need the right drivers. You should be able to hit much higher with the system you have then 6k, ive gotten this one up to 4300 and thats not even with trying different versions of drivers yet, if youd like tips on how to tweak your system let me know
Cheers

#6 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | Glad i could do that for you, but seriously you can get way more then 6k with that system, top spot is held by a guy with a crummy intel core two and a 8800 and he scored 26k, i know i could crank atleast 10k out of your system, im getting up to 4500 on mine and thats at high quality setting, ive been making systems run to their max for the better part of 10 years now ive just never worked with an ATI card because up till now they really havent been worth it.
And if you dont believe that PCI is no better then agp at the moment then look it up, best kept secret of the trade, the bottleneck isnt at the slot, no card out there can take full advantage of the bandwith you can get with agp 8x let alone pci-e 16x, one day sure but right now no. |
