Default New X1650pro and missing driver options

Hi, I just today updated from a Radeon 9800pro to an X1650pro and have immediately run into a snag with drivers. I am using the standard 7.4 drivers (with CP) that I downloaded from NGOHQ but after sticking the X1650 in and re-installing the drivers, I have attempted to enable custom settings for anti-aliasing in the control panel as I always have, and am disturbed to find the option is simply not there anymore.

How has anti-aliasing handling changed between cards? could the CP not support my card fully? PLEASE tell me there's a solution that doesn't result in me having to instal the CCC.

Help asap would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings and welcome to NGOHQ!

Be sure to install the ATI Tray Tool and then tell us whether the option is still missing. Also, make sure that ATI Tray Tool is actually active and present in your Task Bar.

Thanks for the greet and response.

It seems I jumped on the panic button a tad quick, I read the tips in the tools and I just hadn't realised that 'Smoothvision' is the anti-aliasing option now, and that temporal AA is now the 'quality' checkbox.

Very odd that the same driver on two cards gives the same options under entirely different names.

Lol IModAmd,

I am too Morbo, the performance i'm getting is quite impressive, and it certainly doesn't hurt that the card was under a quarter what I paid for my 9800.

But seriously, can you guys verify the stability of the 7.7's? I'd like to give in to my obsessive-compulsive need to update, but after my experience with the 7.5's (major lag even in older games like AVP2 and performance loss so bad it dropped over a thousand points in 3DMark03/05) I've been sitting on the 7.4's because they're currently running like a charm.
