it could be that i need to update my driver and that catalyst control center but it just says "setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system" how do you fix that?

Well, when I asked for 'all' the hardware, I really did intend to get a complete list. You haven't supplied that as yet.

What motherboard?

What manufacturer of that 400W PSU?

What about the drivers for the motherboard and chipset? Have you checked the manufactuer's site for updated drivers for these components? and for any updated BIOS?

We can tell that you're not very familiar with all of this, but, we're willing to help if you can come up with a full list of whatever hardware is in your PC.

What specific driver version of the HD 2600 are you attempting to install? AGP versions of the card should install fine as of the 8.1 (or was it 8.2?) drivers. At any rate, the 8.3 drivers [should] install fine for that card.

BUT, you need first to check the manufacturer of your motherboard and get the latest drivers.....including BIOS update if there is one.

Lightbulb Problem

Hi, i have a little problem, few weeks ago i bought ASUS or ATI AH2600 PRO video card, so after installing it on mother board everything was ok until i installed drivers on it, after reboot it shows win loading and after just black screen, nothing happens , i star to search in google, also found this forum, and did win update, but nothing. May be it is because my PC is too old for that card but it's only maybe. i don't know. May be somebody have any ideas!!!
Thanks!!

There are a few things you need to do when upgrading to a much newer video card than what your motherboard was designed to support.

First of all, make sure you have the latest motherboard/chipset drivers installed from the motherboard manufacturer.

Secondly, make sure you have the latest BIOS installed.

Once you've installed the above, check for Windows Updates to make sure your OS is up-to-date.

Next, once you have the motherboard and OS updated, make sure you get the latest ATI drivers [Version 8.3 at this writing] from the ATI/AMD support site.

If you're still having problems report back with any updated information.

Good luck!
