Default Memory clock and timing

A simple question about ATI card memory timing and memory clock...

1. Between memory timing and memory clock, which of this 2 option that will make temperature increase high?
2. Is it recommended to change the memory timing after I overclock the memory?

Well if you overclock memory in most cases , you need to set higher latency or it will not be stable , other thing if you have some good modules for OC`ing. Then you can go high with the OC and still maitain low latencys like 2-2-2-6.

As for the heat question , its the OC`ing that is cause of it mostly, not the timings.

jula182,

You are asking about the ATI video card memory and core clock timings, am I right?

nCaine has answered your question [I think] referring to System RAM memory...not the video card's.

Hmm culd be Dyre , i dint notice its in Ati section , i always check all new threads by the "view new post" button. And i dint see befor someone ask about timings on the ram on video cards , that why i got missleaded

PS. I dont know about Ati , but is changing timings on video cards involvs messing with the BIOS ???? But to be honest ther in not muth to gain here i think. The biggest impact on performance wuld be just OC the mem`s , i heard that most bios mods are about voltages. I dont know too muth about GPU bios. This is for me line i do not cross , not muth to gain , too muth of a risk , same with messing with AGP voltages. Shortens GPU live time.

Well, I use ATI Tray Tools or RaBIT to change memory timing.

Cool , but i think that its better to set higher latencys , but gain some extra Mhz . This is how it works on system memory.

PS. Litle warning i played with system latencys and set it too low once, this caused hdd data coruption and some reinstals , i dunno what culd happen if you set it too low on video card.

Maybe I should set the memory timing high to get a better result...

Messing the VGA's memory timing is VERY RISKY. One bad option may cause serious damage.
