ATi Tool 0.27 beta2 Available

I've waited patiently for Ray Adam's to come out with a new version of ATi Tray Tool that supports my HD2600XT VisionTek card. So far, he hasn't done it. Even the ATI CCC doesn't work for the Overclocking on this card and I find RivaTuner has just too many hoops to jump through to get it working like I want.

However, I've come across ATi Tool with its latest beta 2 that works very simply and straightforward on my Vista PC.

Within just a few minutes anyone can walk through this little tweaker and know exactly what's what and how to make it work.

Using the latest beta, if I try to change the clocks under XP Pro, it reboots my PC.

It doesn't do that under Vista.

ATi tool sucks. Give nothing but BSOD's. I prefer to use Overdrive when I have nothing to do but overclock like an idiot with no life to get a extremely small boost in rendering performance.

The problem with using CCC Overdrive is that, for whatever reason, the Memory timing is locked on this 3870. I can actually change it using ATI Tool...but not with Overdrive. And, Overdrive ONLY allows me to increase Core up to 840. I can go several notches above that using ATI Tool.

I'm not that familiar with ATI Tool, anyway. I wish Ray Adams would get some updates on his ATI Tray Tool. I rather like that one.

EDIT: Correction: Core CAN be increased; Memory won't 'stick'.

that's strange, traytools works just great with my both my visiontek 3870's, one of them built by ATI.
have you tried the latest beta?

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I was trying to use the earlier release on my VisionTek HD2600XT and it was worthless. Wouldn't recognize the timings, the fan speeds....nothing. It was total crap as far as using it on that card.

Of course, remember, I'm using Windows Vista!

well it's not guaranteed to work with the 2xxx cards but i think it might. it didn't do anything for my 3870 until some nice folks donated one to Ray.

you might want to keep an eye on the beta thread and offer mr. Adams some feedback if you can...

OK...first I need to make a correction: I can increase the GPU [Core} but I cannot get any increase in the Memory speed to 'stick'. It reverts right back to 1170. Example: I can actually use either ATI Tool, or ATI Tray Tool and increase the Memory slider up to 1188. Click on Apply, and it shows "Present" speed of 1188. But, as soon as I start a Benchmark, it defaults right back to 1170.

I'm wondering if the Dynamic Timing of 2D/3D affects this? Are you able to get an increase in the Memory speed and make it 'stick'?
