Red face creative x-fi new installation

Thanks!

1. in bios there is "onboard equipment",
containing "HD audio controller active": that should be deactivated?

2. in WinXP Pro i see following entry - look screenshot (for sure i translate it in english as good as i'm able to ):
Onboard is realtek, for sure no CREATIVE product (so i should let the creative controller untouched? - so far i didn't install anything of soundcard-cd):

- audiocodecs
- Creative Audio PCI (ES1371 ...)(WDM)
- Legacy-Audiodriver
- Legacy-Videorecording-instrument (tool?)
- Media-control-instrument (tool?)
- Videocodecs
(to get upload accepted, i had to pack the word-attachment in .rar)

I don't want to de-install to much!

Many thanks!
Worf
PS: In the top of the case is a connector to mp3-player etc.; running even without starting the pc, i let that controller in bios active i think!?

Checking the Creative site the latest drivers are dated Oct 20, 2006. If the card is brand new check the dates on the driver that came with it they may be more recent otherwise I would suggest DLing from Creative ..

PPS: Only need to install one or the other not both .. good luck

The only thing you may need the cd for is to install the audio applications that go along with the card. They can also be downloaded from the same Creative site that MacDaddy pointed you to if they are newer than what comes on the cd.

Default Audio-Drivers of Motherboard-CD

So far OK, thanks @all!

I realized another point: there is sound onboard too, so i didnt install any audio drivers from the motherboard-cd (Realtek audio) till now. Only the Realtek-Lan-Drivers.

May/shoud I only install creative-drivers (cause I only will use the soundcard) or are those Realtek-drivers necessary?

Thanks!
Worf
PS: Maybe its just necessary for using the pc as mp3-player without starting-up the pc itself?

No need to install drivers for the onboard audio Bro and if that card is all you are using make sure the onboard audio is disabled in your BIOS.

Cheers
