DirectX Tweaker 2005.2 Beta 1k
there are instructions inside for BF2 to work.
updated to include d3dx9_26.dll
should work straight away.

aha... ok... well strange that they dont make a version which doesnt include the wireframe effect... then the problem would be fixed...
