Default MSI Tool

I haven't tried it, but I always see the free SecureDoc tool from MSI when I am looking for mortherboard updates. It says it integrates with Explorer, so I assume that it will be able to secure whole folders... anyway, I am running XP64 now and I doubt it will work with that. You can find-out more here:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...ist.php?kind=1
"SecureDoc is a program that could allow you to encrypt the files, this program is compatible with the file manager, The user could encrypt the files easily by just a click of the mouse."

Also, I believe Windows itself does it, but it's never been obvious how to do it. Maybe there's finally a good reason to use Windows Help...

You can use WinRAR with a PW and encryption. That file(folder) you can open as a dir and view / select / extract what you want . Just a thought

EDIT: And of course using encription you cannot view the filenames if you have the incorrect pass

perhaps, but then u would need to go trrough decompressing to get ur stuff, so not the best choice huh?

why not just put everything u dont want to be seen in a new partition and use an app to hide the partition u have, i mean, ur stuff would be there and people not knowing it's hidden wont look for it, thing is u hide the partition and noone will see it on explorer or whatever but if u make a link to that drive u can acces it easily, i do know of tweakxp pro being able to hide partitions, but there is a lot more apps that can do it as well i guess since its a function of windows anyway

Yeah, if you turn off 'simple sharing' in TOOLS -> FOLDER OPTIONS -> VIEW, you can make folders or files private. That way anyone not signed into your account cannot view the files or folders (they are there, but cannot be opened or accessed in any way, it says access is denied). You would have to ensure that you 'switch users' or 'log off' when you are not using your PC though. Just turn on the Guest account.

Well actually I find most of this stuff I either have to compress or backup anyway. Takes no time at all to pull something out of the RAR and I know that is safe. On WinBlows send me that HD with the hidden partition and I will send back screenshots of it ^^

I doubt that partition or any of the XP folder options are properly encrypted
