#2 | | Site Staff | This is totally useless. You can easily rip DirectX 10 from Vista and put it on your XP. The problem is the DX10 Display Driver (Nvidia/ATI). You need them to redesign their Vista driver to fit in XP as well because of the LDDM bullshit. The main problem is with the Display driver (and possible law suits). Having DX10 runtimes is useless since you need the DX10 driver extensions.

From what i remember lamesoft stated that ther will be no DX10 for XP.
I think if Vista wuld be a real good system with good driver support and no performance drop compared to XP , people wuld go and get Vista , but since we all know at what position Vista is now , they wont give us DX10 for XP , to force upgrade of OS + upgrade of hardware in most user cases .

For the moment at least I think games will come in both DX9 and DX10 versions - at least for a few years.
Also MS have said SP3 is coming - and I reckon it will eventually - prob. Q1 2008 as a goodbye to XP. |
