Default The hell with the new games!

In the last week I tried many demos of a several new games, I must admit that they all sucked. I’m talking about single player, everyone are trying to make easy money! Some of the games have nice graphics but the gameplay is boring. I couldn’t even find one good game.

I solved my problem by finding my old CD of UFO: Enemy Unknown and ran it with DOSBOX. I must say, maybe the graphics and the sounds are not that good, but the gameplay is kicking ass big time. Of course I used money cheat because I’m fighting against aliens and governmental organization like mine – suppose to have unlimited budget. (Hi! I’m fighting against aliens! Don’t expect me to beat with them with 200$).

Why the hell these latest games suck so badly??

try Faces of War published by Ubisoft

it's not out yet ... but there is a demo
it is based on an "old" engine of CodeMaster's Heroes of WW2 - witch it's a very hard game, I never finished it

The Latest games don't suck. They are just tailored to a different audience than us. Big couch potatoes with a coke in one hand and a hamburger in the other. All these fools can see is graphics. No intriguing story lines (It's usually TEH WORLD IS GOIN END! U MUST SAVE IT GOGOGO!). On top of that most recent games have been the greatest bug ridden crap of all time (Think titan quest, homm5, bf2, oblivion). It's because games are rushed to the market and sold to unwise buyers and major issues are left till later.
Here's what happened with dungeon lords:
Publisher: Release that game or this woman dies *Indicates dev's mother*
Developer: but half features are still missing! There's the custom faces, automap, side quests, furniture, chests, multiplayer issues, who host of graphical and monster spawning glitches... You can't be serious.
Publisher: *Safety lock sound* you wanna bet?
Developer: OMG alright I'll release the damn game!
Gamer1: Hey look a new ARPG! That wallpaper looks so cool I'm gonna buy it.
Gamer2: You might want to wait for a few reviews etc
Gamer1: Shut up those reviews ain't worth shit
*Both buy the game and after playing it decide to never eat meat for a year*

Am I ranting?

No, I don't think so... Matter of fact, I agree 101%. Last game I *really* appreciate was Far Cry, although it also has the "U MUST SAVE THE WORLD GOGOGO" factor, just because developers presented not only a beautiful scenarium, with lots of animals, but also gave you some time to rest after/before the killings... and some funny things, like those pigs or the enemies' speech (you can hear it with binoculars! ). But, again, you said the true:

Even though i'm a month late on this discussion, gotta agree. Alot of newer games feel watered down, though a handful of soon to be released ones look fun. Last good set of games i played was PS2 Xenosaga I-III. Think that's the last game i used more than 1 brain cell, but was still overly easy after a certain point.

What ever happend to challenging gameplay, riveting stories, well developed characters, and good senseful jokes in games =/

Well, there's only so many ways to fry an egg. What the gaming community needs is something completely different than what we've seen. I must admit, I'm playing neverwinter nights 2 at the moment, and enjoying every second...
