Default CRYSIS and DX10. What do you all think about that?

Few years ago, when FARCRY was launched, I talk secretly to my buttons: wow, it seems amazing ! A year and a half later from that time, I acquired the game . For months ahead the game package stood over my desk, until I finally earned some extra money and bought a real nice and compatible VGA in order to run it . And... at that time, I screamed to my buttons: WOW! OMFG! Etc. Good times, indeed. Now, CRYTEC, developer of FARCRY, promises CRYSIS (Cry Engine 2 under DirectX 10 API), with these goods:

"dynamic day/night cycle, fully interactive enviroments, sunrays and diffuse transmission, real time soft shadows, soft particles, interactive/destructrible enviroments, volumetric clouds, and advanced shader technology"

Video link: http://www.filecloud.com/files/file.php?file_id=2769

I really believe in CRYTEC, but... What do you all think about that? To develop a game for an API (DX10) which doesn´t exist yet? It´s possible? The idea of a dynamic day/night cycle, for instance, astonished me.

Man im super excited about Crysis. Did you see those trailors!? Those tech demos!? Holy crap the game is goreous and finally destructible enviornments!

Down side of course being you need a monster machine im assuming not to mention dropping a load on a new DX10 card thats gonna be outdated instantly.

Cant wait to play it (on someone elses PC) I bet the DX9 mode is still gonna be amazing just lacking some of the new Shader Effects.

I think that there release date is really generous, in my opinion its coming out later then early 07 but who knows.

As far as I know, the video was DX9.0 (assuming SM3.0) which ran on X1900XT/X CrossFire, it definitly looks amazing, the thing which caught me the most was the unblievable textures, pity my X850XT would have to crawl on the lowest settings.

It was DX9? I thought they demo'd some effects that would only be possible with DX10? If thats running on a lousy Crossfire setup then im surprised.

Check out this interview at IGN.

http://media.pc.ign.com/media/694/694190/vids_1.html

One of the creators talks about Crysis' story development and innovative gameplay. It sounds like this game is going to be OFF the hook! At the end of the interview, the guy says to "pick up this game this winter" AND "it's a PC exclusive, don't expect to find it on any consoles." IF that's true, we might see it before x-mas and we can probably assume it will be using DX9 with the option open new features with DX10 later on, after the offical Vista release. I can't wait...
