css stabiliti issues

i got a new motherboard and cpu my full specs are
Amd Athlon 64 3500+ venice (939)
Asus a8v deluxe
Msi nx6800gt 256mb
1024 OCZ Dual Channel gold kit (2-2-2-5)
sb audigy LS
wd raptor 36g
maxtor 40g

my problem is when i play css it locks up at a moment i dont have it with other games like BF2
i got the Nvidia 78.05 drivers and i tried other drivers.
i got the latest via drivers and creative drivers.
if somebody knows what the hell is wrong i am glad to hear it.

I've heard there are problems with codec packs and CS:S.

i dont have codec packs instaled its a clean install of windows

Are you sure it's only in CS:S and have you tried to disable EAX? try to use the onboard audio instead the creative card. Also try to update the Motherboard BIOS. Make sure your GPU doesnt share any IRQ with other devices.

the irq sharing thing is over rated.. that was only viable in the days before acpi and apic

its only with hl2/css and hl2 mods i play the game after a while it locks up.
i got the latest bios on my mobo.
the irq are not shared ( i dont have a award bios but a ami)
eax is off.
this is realy annoying i cant play my nr1 game.

Sounds like you have "flame Valve" case. Try to contact them and ask for more details.
Try to reinstall steam with all the GCF files.
