Far Cry 2 does not want to play in full screen, no matter what resolution it is set on, or with the widescreen on or off. I added the three patches also, still no luck. I am playing on windows 7 64-bit home premium.

come on, it happened again. The game profile.xml keeps on changing, and putting the same default settings back, and the same problem is reoccuring. Where can you find settings.ini?

Looks like I have a solution, it works for now, hopefully won't work again.

Go to C/users/(your user name)/my documents/my games/far Cry 2/and open gamerprofile.xml and open with notepad, look for "Fullscreen" and change it from 0 to 1, look for "Maximized" and change it from 0 to 1, look for "ForceWidescreen" and change it from 0 to 1. Then save the document, and you are done. When you start Far Cry 2 up just click on Far Cry 2 that comes in the middle of the screen a few times and it should work. I restarted the game about 10 times just to see if it would work and it did.

Glad you got it sorted out. I had to go through this myself and would have shared the fix with you. But, I've been tied up the last 2 nights fixing my mom's 'puter after it got infected with a Trojan. So, I missed this thread until now.

Just to be safe you should set gamerprofile.xml to read-only after those changes.
