I've been just tinkering a bit tonight and have gotten hooked once again on the gorgeous atmosphere of this 'now-ancient' adventure game. I loved it when it first came out and am falling in love with it again.

I installed it from the original CDs [there are 2 of them] but had trouble getting the game to start at all. I got a "....remove and re-insert the CD...." message time and again.

I did also get the official patches for the game and still got the CD error.

But, once I got the NoCD crack, and got that in place, the game has been running flawlessly for several hours now.

And, it looks great still! AND, on my widescreen LCD, too....even at 800x600 yet.

I bought the game and tried it. I have to say that is the only adventure game that I ever liked enough to play it, and keep it on my computer. I usually don't really like adventure games but this one is ok.For 800x600 this game looks nice, especially when it came out.

A securom or whatever issue, nothing uncommon... sigh

Anyway, I never managed to get immersed in that game, head many glorifying it, but I just didn't like those ultra long walks from one location to another. Usually in the adventure games I roam a lot as most of the time I don't know what I'm doing and with this game it really was a pain in the ass. Personally, I enjoyed some other games (like Discworld Noir or Broken Sword I and II) a lot more.

The way I play, Kate Walker should be called, Kate Jogger. I never let her walk anywhere. LOL

lol yeah I always ran as well, but nevertheless it was tedious. In most adventures you have shortcuts that allow you to quickly skip one scene or a map. In Syberia I was always like "hmmm, maybe I could try this" and then I jog off to that location and then I figure the initial idea was wrong, so I head back only to realize my mistake so there you go back again. Scenes are indeed nice, but t just take to long to cross them.

Also, Grim Fandango is a very nice adventure, old style.

Well, I just finished Syberia a few moments ago and loved every moment of it. I do agree, though, that there could have been some method of getting from place to place a bit faster. BUT, they did such a great job on the Kate Walker model it was most enjoyable watching her run from place to place. Got nice close-up shots, too, whenever she entered the train. LOL!

The story, though, is what draws me to games like this. If a game has a good story/plot I can overlook a few problems.
