I've got the game after I've played the demo. At first, after applying the patch, I was happy because it seemed that most of the problems with the demo were resolved. The bloom is not at a managable level, you can actually see your iron sights.
Then playing Boot Camp, I've encountered a scripting issue. It seems that the game can't register that I've killed all of team Saber in the MOUT course.
Okay, I head on, try the armoury and find a similar problem in the poacher missions. Poacher, as in you need to avoid them. As you're a chicken (I'm not kidding). It turns out that you can't and the game will not supply a gamekeeper or anyone like that at any one time.
My experiences with the first mission of Harvest Red weren't bad but still some scripting issues here and there.
I think the game suffers from similar problems that Boiling Point or STALKER had: the game may be innovative (although it isn't that much in this case, this is more like a continuation from Arma 1 which in turn was a continuation from Operation Flashpoint) but its so full of bugs that you can't enjoy the advantages.
I'm still looking forward to OF: Dragon Rising. Hell, I've decided to play Crysis again on my new graphics card just to wait for further patching. |

P.S.

For example, you can control vehicles by looking around the mouse. This is not comfortable, not useful. To add to that fact, they removed the crosshair while you drive. This is especially annoying when controlling helicopters, as the angle of your copter determines whether you are speeding up or slowing down or about to hit a tree.
The shooting sections themselves aren't bad, you just have to think differently and hope that the guy leading the squad isn't an idiot.
Of course, so far trying to lead my squad have been mixed results. The controls still require memorising every radio command menu number. In the heat of combat, its about as useful as a blanket in the desert. |
