The latest patch for The Witcher is due to be released at some time during July 8. The patch will remove all DRM from the game -- making it so that the game can be played without the DVD present in the drive. Also, the patch will include additional new adventures made by fans of The Witcher.

So, if you have the game, keep your eyes peeled on the website for the updated patch 1.5.

Actually, there's not much in Patch 1.5 that could not be downloaded and installed individually. The BIGGEST improvement is for those who bought the Enhanced Edition on DVD that included DRM and required the DVD to be in the drive. That's been removed in this patch so that the game can be played without the presence of the disc.

The EAX and Blur problems are fixed in this patch but this was also available as a hotfix some time ago.

Including the extra mod content also makes it a bit easier, I suppose, for those who might have some trouble installing them otherwise.

My own previously patched to 1.4 saved games are working just fine, too.
