I know what you mean and I understand that the real "real" situation would in no way be fun....but in game I just take pleasure from winning through skill and tactics rather than just being quicker on the button or having a better/faster network connection....I just wish that games were more balanced to favour that style of play rather than as it is at the moment where running and gunning is favoured.....you must admit although it is fun initially it does rapidly become boring and I hanker for more skilled tactical game play.

reminds me of something i heard once (real):
a bunch of elite army soldiers went on an after army trip to Amsterdam, where they met up with some dutch junkies.
the junkies offered them to do team paintball fight against them and the soldiers agreed, thinking they are pros.
The soldiers used all their military close combat knowledge and ended up beaten completely by them dutch junkies.

so maybe running recklessly isn't too bad in real life as well

Yeah.....you get good at what you train at.....I could cycle most people half my age into the ground but I couldn't run around the block....
Bet your dutch junkies lived at the paint ball station where as the army guys had probably never specifically done paint balling before....give them real guns and a real environment and I wouldn't bet heavily on the dutch junkies...
There are undoubtedly skills involved and talents to be learned with running and gunning but personally I think a more stealthy and tactical approach is the much more skillful of the two approaches by far.
