I've heard all the stories about the RROD and how the system seems to like to overheat and then tends to not work from that point on. What I have done is added a pretty big house fan to the back of the system that is blowing air in and around the console in an attempt to keep the system cool and avoid the RROD by not allowing the heat that seems to kill the console affect it as much as it normally would. As I said the system is brand new and has not had any problems as of yet and I want to keep it that way.
My question is, can this help the system stay cool and possibly prevent the system from failing by keeping it a bit cooler? I personally think this will help a great deal, but I wanted to get some other opinions and thoughts on this.
BTW, I am enjoying GTA4 on the 360 with no problems and that is the only way to play this great game.

Blowing air directly onto an item, especially heat sinks will actually trap the heat. That way it pulls the heat away. My cousin did that with the old version and helped cook it. |

I owned 3 of em within the past 4 years (on my 4th one now) and all three suffered the RROD and had drive probs. I dont know why i keep buying them. I did here about this new Jasper 360. Its supposed to run less power threw it and that would mean less heat. (according to Microsoft) And the insides are a little different.....but after what i went threw, im on my last one. Shockwave if you wanna have a gaming console, i recommend a PS3. Sure it doesn't have as good of games but hey at least its stays up and running. Or scrap your 360 and stick with PC. |

#6 | | Professional Member | I had two RROD with mine but now have bought one of those coolers...the one where you stand the xbox on its end on top of the cooler....I modified it by putting two bigger pc fans in it and it is really cooling it well....no problems since....it is very good at cooling...when I turn the console off the fans keep going until I turn the power socket off...if I just leave the fans going after the console is off it only takes about 15 secs to cool it right down so I think it is working well. |

But yea the 360's have issues, my g/f's brother has one and he's had to ship it away for repairs twice now, we were over there one day trying to watch a movie on it and the bloody this was so effin loud that it totaly got in the way of the movie.
I keep my serious gaming on the pc, we just got the wii for fun and entertaining friends, its the only console ill bother with |

It makes me wonder what they did or how they are using their console apposed to how others are. If all the consoles are made the exact same way with the exact some problems, how are some ending up never breaking? Maybe it does have to do with one of those coolers or even my house fan idea might help a bit. Maybe opening up the console and leaving the side off of it and have a fan blow directly on the hardware.
