and trust me i do like my traditional rpg's but this is a very refreshing change, it wouldnt have been as good if it was just another point and click |

you have seen that 90% of people plays games that dont need brain activity
so what is a point of trying to learn them ?
p.s.i also love Fallout serial but what is a point of making mess about a game?

#26 | | cel rau | why F3 has so little to do with the classic Fallout games
the inherited:
- the wasteland
- the monsters
- the remaining nuclear devices
- the vaults
- the VATS system (in a small portion)
what F3 brings:
- the one man army (making it a FPS)
- the FPS style controls to a non FPS game
- the revamped VATS system (that makes the game so easy to play; in fact attacking outside VATS is just a waste of ammo; attack using VATS, cover until AP replenishes, attack again - that's it)
- monsters that level with the player (Oblivion style)
what makes a Fallout game:
- the team play; F3 has nothing to do with commanding a team with has individuals specialized on different skills
- the turn based fights; F3 has no turn based fight thus making VATS a waste and an absolute nonsense to a FPS one man army style
- random encounters; in F3 U can say there are random encounters but's not true, monsters stay "glued" to a specific area
I could go on but ... I finish here; F3 is not a Fallout game just because it has Fallout in the name and a wasteland

#27 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | The real Fallout 3 died when Black Isle Studios went down. These guys created some of the best RPG games of all time that will last forever. There are still screenshots around the web on the original Fallout 3. It was 3D but with the same isometric camera. It's a shame it will never see the light of day again.
However...
But just because Fallout3 is slightly dissimilar from the rest of the series doesn't make it one of 2008's worst games.
You should be mentioning Fail Cry 2 and not Fallout 3 for a game that has nothing to do with the series and sucks too boot.
The exploration and perk system is still there, companions are still there, the story is still there. The enclave, mutants, slavers, the karma system. It's fun if you play it right, I have no comment on abusing VATS. The bottom line is, Fallout 3 is one of the better games of 2008 and it's much better than Oblivion was so soon after its release.

#28 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | Like unix said, so its not a clone of the original, so what? its still one of the best game out there and you have to look at it as its own game, forget the fallout title and enjoy the game itself because it really is good.
Honestly, i for one am glad that didnt make another top down rpg, it takes alot to get one of thoes right and historically there have been very few that have really pull it off, plus they get kind of tiresome, i rather like what theyve done with fallout, it cant always just be the same thing over and over, thats how you kill a series. |

#29 | | cel rau | I didn't wanted a clone!
just that F3 tries to be much more and it didn't delivered; funny you mentioned the perks and karma
not having a team just defeats the purpose of having a one man army who can't be best at anything
karma is a useless stat that will has no effect
as I said, Fallout is about team play and many more, F3 doesn't deliver

#30 | | Master of Disaster | | CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 | | Well I disagree because i think it does deliver, is it a top down rpg? no, is it an excelet fps implementation of the fallout genre? yes
Its got way more rpg elements then any other fps out there, I think its well crafted and its elements are for the most part well implemented and executed.
Your just hardcore into wanting another top down rpg fallout clone so you refuse to see how killer of a game this really is. Im glad they changed it, making the same thing over only with a different pc and quests just gets boring. |
