Default Midway Releases "Area 51" for Free

I noticed in my RSS from Gamershell that Midway has decided to release Area 51 for free. It's a pretty hefty download, though: 1.93 GB, so, if you do decide to check it out, make sure you have a good download manager.

That is my sentiment exactly. Who can complain if it's totally free? Also, there's some online multiplayer in it.

I haven't actually had anytime to play it but I did start it up after getting it installed. For a 3-year old game, it's looking pretty good so far.

EDIT: It seems the game was made for lower game resolutions, e.g. 1024x768. I have it set to 1280x1024. That may explain some of the 'blurriness' in the screenshots. But, there's also quite a bit of action going on so it could be some blur from the motion.

I've had a chance now to play through a few of the autosaves. It's really fast action and the mutants/aliens can come from all angles and areas. They are VICIOUS!

A few more screenshots from the actual ingame play...not the cutscenes/introduction.

is there a cooperative part in it (that would be the most interesting part for me - dont like to play storylines alone )

I wish it did, too! It was the first thing I checked out in the online settings.

Sadly, it does not have CoOP. There's Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Capture the Flag and Hold, and something called Infection.
