If you tell me how to acquire it, or at least give me some clues, will it ruin the gameplay/storyline? If not, any help is appreciated.

Presently, though, I'm really into Drakensang: The Dark Eye. If you can get this one when you finish The Witcher, I think you'd enjoy it, too.

Yes, I did get it solved, took me like 20 minutes of incessant bashing to kill that golem though. I'm now at chapter 4 and still really enjoying the awesome game. The two hardest parts I've been through so far however, are when you need to make an ally to fight Salamandra in their base in Chapter III. I decided to join the Flaming Rose, but when you assault the elves in Vivaldi's bank, I didn't have any potions left cause I didn't expect such a fight. So I had to regenerate my vitality using fish and pears (yeah lol) which took me like 15 minutes. Then I got to the basement of the bank where I have to start over like 15 times then I finally won out of luck. The other part is once you're IN Salamandra's base and get to the kikimore cave, I didn't figure out I had to knock out all the support with the Aard and tried to bash every kikimore, which didn'T prove successful. again there I got out out of luck.

In the bank you chosen the Flaming Rose but generally witch side are you on the Flaming Rose or the Scoia'tael or neutral? I picked neutral. I don't remember the bank part being so hard what difficulty level did you pick? And by the way if you need any help just ask the polish version of The Witcher was supplied with a walkthrough and it looks like the version in other countries wasn't. So if you need some help just tell me. |

All you have to do with the golem is to run and activate the pillars nearby so that lightning flashes and kills the golem. You don't have to even bother trying to fight him.
I've played through all three ways, Flaming Rose, Scoia'tel and Neutral. Neutral is quite a bit more difficult because you then make enemies of both factions.
To make most battles a bit 'easier' make sure you level up your Igni Sign so that it does more damage in a wider area. That causes more of the enemy to stop fighting for a little while as they try to beat out the flames. You can then concentrate on a few others.

I spent like 15 minutes or sword-bashing the golem when I could've just activated the pilars??? F**k.
The reason why the bank part was hard for me is because I had absolutely no potions left. Ok, I had weapon upgrades, but that doesn't really help when you are surrounded by about 10 angry dwarves in heavy armor.
Witek - I try playing as neutral as possible, but I usually find myself with the Flaming Rose side more than Scoia'Tael.

Witek - I try playing as neutral as possible, but I usually find myself with the Flaming Rose side more than Scoia'Tael. | As for the Golem: As long as you get the Lightning Rod and then ask the Druids for a Storm, it's just a matter of activating the Pillars correctly so that lightning hits the Golem. You don't even have to fight him at all.
As for the Bank: When I'm limited in resources, I make my way to the stairway and liimit the opponents as much as possible by making them come to me one at a time. Using Igni from there, some of them will stop fighting while trying to beat out the flames. Just be careful with this tactic because there have been a couple of instances where Geralt 'fell through the stairs' and couldn't recover. So, I suggest saving your progress prior to these types of battles to make sure you don't run up on something like this. The EE release corrected a LOT of this type of problem but the original was full of them.
If you haven't played it through siding with the 'Squirrels' I highly suggest you do. It does present some very interesting things to think about.
