Default CRYSIS on HD3870@VeryHigh-1600x1200-VSyncON

I finally got around to seeing just what my HD3870 could do with Crysis. I wanted to really give it a good test so I cranked up the settings to VERY HIGH; 1600x1200 and with VSync ON just to see what would happen. This is with the Single Player and beginning with a brand new game.

I wish ATT was more dependable in producing the Screenshots, but, I wanted to be able to also show the FPS within the game. I know a lot of you will laugh, but, with these settings I can actually play the game with a solid 15 FPS and have played it through for about an hour or more at these settings. I wouldn't try it in MP game, but, the eye candy is really nice and the game is actually quite fluid even at 15 FPS.

I'm going to continue playing around with the settings by backing them off one notch at a time and see what it takes to get a solid 30 FPS. I don't think it will take much.

I'm using the latest 8.5 Catalyst drivers and, of course, this is under Vista 32-bit and DirectX 10.

Once I get ATT working better, I'll post some follow-up screenshots. (BTW, FRAPS seems not to work that well with Crysis. I had no problem using it with The Witcher, though. ??? )

Yes, I will get to those eventually. But, for the time being, I'm simply working with the 'generic' settings available in the Options Menu for Video and Advanced Video.

By simply setting the Advanced Options one notch down from Very High, to High, I've gotten FPS increase to 20+ FPS.

Yeah but have you tried running CPU benchmark #2 with those settings?

I actually have a 4800+ 939 in my other rig. Might be interesting to see how it does with this 3870, huh?

But, it's running XP Pro...not Vista.
