Default GTA 4 - Is it really that good?

I don't have a console and everyone is talking about GTA 4. Is it really that good? Should I try to get some Xbox, or wait for Rockstar to bring it to the PC ? Last time it took them eight months to bring San Andreas to the PC.

I think this is a lame move by Rockstar. They made millions thanks to PC gamers and GTA was originally for the PC. I think we deserve higher priority.

i think vc is about as good as that series gets.

san andreas was more of the same but lamer imo and my guess is they just updated the engine but the game play will be even more of the same.

i think, either you like gta or you don't but it doesn't do anything for me.
give me an fps any day...

personally i wouldn't waste my money on an xbox rege.

All I can tell you is that my son, who has two XBOX 360s, hasn't stopped playing this game since he got it. When I come in from work, he's playing it. I asked him the other night, "Is it any good?" Without even looking up, all he did was nod his head emphatically indicating that he really, really likes it.

I, personally, haven't tackled the series since the very first GTA. I was much more immersed in MAFIA when it came out and couldn't stop playing until I finished it. (I'm considering playing MAFIA through again in anticipation of the new sequel coming out early next year. Crosses fingers for a great sequel!)

But, like DJ said above, I really don't think I'd put the money out for a console for this game unless you have some wads of cash lying around just crying to be spent.

Q : GTA 4 - Is it really that good?
My answer : YES
Q : why... ?
My answer : If you didn't played it i couldn't explain it to you.. but the main ideea is that you have a living breathing city and almost unlimited fredom in it to get where u want to go ( if you want to get into the story or just play around), the detail level of the city and the simulation is unbelivable.

not everything in life is perfect... haha so a video game is probably last on the perfect list, i think they will put it out on pc because it's just a big hit so probably your best solution is patience

i think pc will continue to be the platform for the discerning adult gamer.

at least i think so, if they want to keep selling those high dollar graphics cards to us we better have some good games to play...

The only thing what i don't like in gta serie is weak graphics and weak game optimisation what gives to us low performance in game.

All parts look horrible as new games. When all games look amazing gta suck with graphics.

P.S.
My fav one will always be vice city, for perfect vibe.

My son, mentioned above, is playing GTA IV on his XBOX 360 connected to a 48 inch TV. Just last evening I walked in from the other room and was impressed with how 'movie quality-like' the game is with this setup. We even commented about how fantastic the graphics look like. I can only imagine that the PC version, when it finally comes out, will be even more impressive.

On a side note, he just informed me today that his Elite 360 now has the "three rings of death" and this means that his failure rate is now 100%. He's already had to deal with one repair on a 'regular' 360 last year about this time. He'll be able to get the Elite repaired/replaced within the next 3-4 weeks under warranty.

Sooooo.....FWIW, I really wouldn't be so inclined to get a 360 unless you're well-prepared to deal with the repair/replacement issues for this console....which, according to sources at Microsoft, will eventually happen to all of them!

At least the new ones are coming out with extended warranties to deal with this.

don't worry Dyre, they'll send him back a Falcon class revision model this time and won't even bother trying to repair it. (they'll just swap out the mainboard pcb so he keeps his saves)
