#12 | | Site Staff | I guess I will try to put my hands on Darkstar one, but nothing will ever beat Freelancer.
Edit: Direct2Drive sucks (only available for purchase in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.)
Edit 2: It's on Steam for ten bucks.

I LOVED Freelancer !!
First space sim for me !!
DarkstarOne is cool, great graphics but looking nearly as freelancer, and each solar
system is looking soooo familiar one after another!!
POP you go out of the jumpgate and then what? No other choice than going to the
spacestation/asteroid...
On freelancer you can spend hours in a single solar system without getting bored...
But it's cool
An other GREAT space sim but more complicated is...Age Of Chaos.
A WONDERFULL game in my opinion.
great great great I loved it.
I spend so much time listening to the music...
And a lost word...
I never played Elite or Privateer...are they as good as it's said?
Bye all |

Both games Elite (and a word buggest game Frontier as non ofiicial second part ) was great . But i think from this 2 . Privatier was better. Mostly becos it was more user friendly. Played them back in these days.
PS. Did some one of You played Mercenary , or sequels Damocles & Mercenary III The DION Crysis. For me the bast part was Damoceles. Spnded alot of time on it. First game that allowed free flighting from planed to planed , landing on them and making the story go. Also for the info ther was many ways to save the planed from the commet . If i remember good 4 or 5 ways to do it . Great stuff for the 8bits
IF you missed that one . Here is link for PC clone of all 3 part in one. http://mercenarysite.free.fr/mddclone.htm

On the DVD is a game called, Universal Combat. The game was originally released in USA in 2004. The one on the DVD is the full, free version and likely can be downloaded for free, too.
I've not messed with it enough due to having other things to do right now, but, just wanted to alert anyone who may be interested. The action in the game isn't restricted to only in space.
More information here.... http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p22252.htm
A snippet for those who wish not to click the link....
__________________________________ Universal Combat takes you into a seamless universe full of epic space battles, massive ground skirmishes, fierce naval engagements and even tense dogfights above the planet's surface. In solo mode or in multiplayer, in first- or third-person view, play as a marine, a starship commander with a full crew, or a pilot in the latest space fighter. Universal Combat brings together the greatest components of any war together in a single game. Conceived in late 2001 as Battlecruiser Generations, the fifth title in the long-running Battlecruiser series, during development it morphed into much more than a massive space simulation. As Universal Combat, the new action-based focus, direction and premise of the new incarnation caters to a wider audience of action and space sim fans alike.

It's playing really nice on Windows 7 x64. AND, we are able to play LAN games with it.
The reason for my unearthing of this thread is that we need some help with INTERNET gaming. Microsoft has closed down the Global Servers and we need a good way to get my server online to allow others outside our LAN to play.
So, any takers? Any suggestions?
I've made some changes to our router to allow some online hosting and need to know if anyone outside can see the server.
Be sure to install Patch 1.1
EDIT:
Go to this download page and scroll all the way to the bottom. Install the Global Server Workaround. http://www.freelancer-universe.com/m...download&cid=1
Then, go to this link and follow instructions to edit the freelancer.ini. It opens up the game to an alternate global server and is working for me. http://www.fllistserver.com/news/
Read more: FREELANCER -- Another Look http://www.hardwareheaven.com/gaming...#ixzz0cEXhDjQy
My server will be running all day. It is password protected during the testing period.
Password is: FLFUN
[It is case sensitive]
