Had to go up and meet with my baby daughter for a few minutes and then came back to get at it again. Leaving shortly to go see "300" tonight.
But, I've gotten past the GateKeeper and plundered a few camps and a cave already. Trying to make my way to meet with Sheogorath. Looks to be quite a journey.
One problem has made its return with a vengeance: Exit from the game = Windows Error screen.

Post some shots of your character!

Post some shots of your character! | It doesn't matter how I exit the game. I always Return to the game after Saving before I choose to Exit. And, I've tried both Exiting right from the game and also going to the Main Menu first. No matter how I do it, it gives me that error. It happened this way for a while with Oblivion, too. But, that patch fixed it.
BTW, Shivering Isles updates the version of the game again, too.
I'll be posting some screenshots soon.

Originally Posted by Regeneration I've heard Shivering Isles is too boring. Is it true? | Well, I really honestly think it depends on what a person wants from a game. If all a person wants is action, action, and more action, then this one could be considered dull and boring. But, for me, it's exactly my cup o' tea because I like to explore, plunder the caves and ruins, fight off the various opponents that get in my way and collect so much stuff I almost can't carry it all to the shop to sell it.
In fact, if someone is impatient, the game could get very frustrating. NOTE: POSSIBLE TINY SPOILER!!
Example: If all the player is expecting is to fight alone or use magic spells, getting past that huge Gatekeeper is going to be impossible. Without taking the time to talk to the inhabitants of The Fringe you'll never discover the 'secret' that will take him down. So, you DO have to involve the NPC characters in many cases in order to achieve the goals/objective. END SPOILER
If 'run n gun' or MP shooters is the player's thing, they'll have a hard time with this, I'm sure.
But, for me, it's the kind of wide open spaces, go-anywhere-you-want and find out what's going on in the game world that just fits my taste.
I won't say the game's perfect. But, I've spent a few hours already and am eager to get right back to it right now.
BTW, for those who do get the game, you HAVE to try this. It had me laughing myself silly.
Once you meet Sheogorath and get all the details about what it is he wants you to do, SAVE YOUR GAME. Go then to the far end of the throne room and shoot him with an arrow or cast something like a fire spell at him. Be sure to hit him. Then, just sit back and watch (it's all you can do for a few moments.) You find out why I insist you save your game.

In fact, if someone is impatient, the game could get very frustrating. | Is it (the Shivering Isles expansion, I mean, not vanilla Oblivion) more like Morrowind? I don't mean just the setting. I mean the gameplay. I hated Oblivion because it was just a generic fantasy hack-'n'-slash and created all sorts of lore holes and inconsistencies (the lore was what made TES so unique). In Morrowind, though the combat sucked, it was the footnote to the game. It was great as a true CRPG.

There are some things that were in Morrowind, though, that they removed from Oblivion. For example: There's no Levitation. I missed that a LOT at first, but, after getting my Athletics skill increased, I found I could jump onto some things in the area to keep me from harm's way.
Another thing I STILL miss is the ability to summon more than one creature. I loved being able to summon 3 - 4 creatures and then stand back and watch the mayhem. LOL! But, in Oblivion and the add-ons (Knights of the Nine; Shivering Isles) you're still limited to one summoned creature at a time. That's probably my main gripe as it was so much fun the other way.
