also search for r2_mblur 1 (or other number) and change to r2_mblur
2) maybe a 20% reduce on shadows helps also.
3) with your GPU, I believe you can use dinamic lightining with no problems...
4) are you using VISTA? I read about some issues with it...
How dark is your screen, you like it in this way?

#22 | | Site Staff | Well, shoot me if you like, but I think STALKER sucks ass. The music is making me sleep, and shooting is not fun! It’s like you’re using some potato gun, and the Radiation is a pain in the arse. Should I mention the annoying bugs? I’m forced to use Static lighting because the developer is a moron, and ignores critical bug reports. Maybe I will give it another run again... sometime. I expected something better, but it seems that this game is extra-hyped. |

radiation is only a problem until you either get the chemical suit or the SEVA suit(i found two in a stash) artifacts are fun to collect and sell, i keep all the rarest one for my own usage but sell the less effective to the barkeep and other stalkers
i think the game rocks, it would be better if you could play co op over a LAN because the Zone is very big.
only other complaint is the amount of stuff you can hold, only 50 kg? 60 if you don't run all over the place like i do. to bad the character don't get stronger over time. |

I expected something better, but it seems that this game is extra-hyped. | "What the hell stalker team did in past 5 years? This game have been in development for 5 years if not more. I know that they had to change the game several times before they reached its current status. And who the hell did let that American idiot from THQ to ruin whole game?!! Seriously in 5 years you'd expect the game to be more bigger, nicely polished in all aspects. Usually games should be already so-delivery stuff. But this one ends up not worth it. So my question is...What the hell you people did in last 5 years? Have you all been drinking Vodka all the crappy time!? Or what! I payed for this product 50 euros. And I really wanted to repsect you guys for delivering a quality game. THe game is: -The main story ends in 8 hours if not less. and whole game ends same time. ...." Another common criticism is the fact that less than half of the map is actually accessible by the player, which is a far cry from the vast scale initially marketed as one of the game's strong points.

The player may find the body of a scientist named "Gordon". His PDA contains some diary entries describing his journey into the zone. Mention is made of Black Mesa and a crowbar, obvious references to the Half-Life series.

The IA is great, one of the best. Is very very fun to fight against the enemies. They cover, help, run away, etc. I only saw a one or two errors, something normal, but much less errors and "irreal" situations than another games. All happens with logic and human (and no human) factions are very very credible.
The shooting system is also great. I think you must shoot at head, and the dispersion of the shoots are very good. If you don't like it at all, you can download a mod that increases ur weapons damage, but I think that actual is great, at least me shooting with ironsight at heads.
You must play it a bit, the first weapons are a bit bad, with great weapons the situation changes.
The best part is the ambience. You are in the zone and its dangerous (i'm playing at the highest difficult). You must not to make a long travel until its necesary or u have ammo and provisions. The history is great, the artifact and item system is very fun and i think that the developer team had tested many times the game (not graphics part, but the playable part, a lot).
The graphics are a mix up with the FEAR and Oblivion ones, and it has the best ilumintion system I had ever seen. Much better that FEAR ones (you must see the "undeground" levels) and the exteriors ambiance is incredible. The game needs a good pc, but is very scalable, you can play it perfectly on old pcs and you will get fun with it.
So, conclusions:
+ The history, the ambience and the "world /zone" that had been created
+ Item system and semi-rol aspects (conversations, trading, missions...)
+ Levels and ilumination
+ Very scalable (My brother play it on a 2700+, 1.5gb ram 333mhz, 9800 pro)
- Need of a good pc for enjoy the ilum. system
- The map would be great if it had a "Far Cry" system (no loads, no "access points").
- I think a patch to fix one or two IA problems and try to optimize a bit more the game.

Just in the beginning, I thought like Regeneration. But, as playing, and making fine adjusts - a great one was turning resolution to 1280x1024, other was turning basic quality settings to maximum - I started to like more and more the game. In the "cons" I must add the abrupt ending of the "walkable areas" - a simple straight line like ancient games, with a "radiation beep" telling you to go back or die. Now, I have to play a bit more, in order to see if I'll mantain this opinion, or.... Quote: |

i'll check ur settings tomorrow after i return home from the army.. | Tried your settings, there are only 6 differences - here:
MINE
hud_crosshair_dist off
r2_slight_fade 1.12
r__detail_density 0.38
r__geometry_lod 0.9
r__supersample 2
r__tf_aniso 1
YOURS
hud_crosshair_dist on
r2_slight_fade 0.6
r__detail_density 0.2
r__geometry_lod 1.
r__supersample 2
r__tf_aniso 16
As you can see, the major difference is the aniso - my system can't go anywhere with this setting (oh yeah: if I try - 0,00000000001 frame per second ); but with the rest of the settings, no problems at all, got 80/90 fps.
